California Youth Charities (“CYC”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). respects our website visitors privacy and is committed to protecting it as set forth in this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”). This Privacy Policy describes what personal information is collected, including how we collect, use, share, store, and protect personal information. This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected on our websites, including https://www.cycusa.org/ (collectively, the “Website”), as well as personal information collected in or through our services and programs, including CYC Doorstep Service, or otherwise through any interaction you have with us (collectively with the Website, the “Services”).

Information that we collect on our Website, including personal information, may be transferred to CYC affiliates to permit us to comply with our legal and contractual obligations, to provide information and services. This Privacy Statement does not apply to information provided directly to and websites operated by any other CYC affiliates. We may change this Privacy Policy at any time. The most recent version of the Privacy Policy is reflected by the effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy. All amendments to this Privacy Policy will be effective immediately upon notice thereof, which we may give by any means, including by posting a revised version of the Privacy Policy or other notice on the Website.

For purposes of this Privacy Statement, “personal information” means any information from or about a person that either identifies that person directly or makes that person identifiable when that information is combined with other information from or about that person from any source. CYC collects personal information from a variety of sources, including information that is provided directly and information that we automatically collect when accessing and using CYC Services.

You may provide personal information to us and our third-party service providers through the Services, when you apply for or inquire about employment with us, make a donation, inquire about partnering with us or becoming a sponsor, or when you e-mail, call, or otherwise communicate with us.     • Contact Information:  Name, physical address, email address, telephone number, business contact information, company name or business affiliation, job title, etc.

    • Website Information: User IDs, passwords, personal information that you choose to share with us voluntarily when you ask a question, request that we follow-up with you, register for an event or promotion, purchase publications or other items, make a contribution, volunteer, or otherwise interact with us

    • Payment Information: Payment card or financial account information

    • Additional Information: Device information, information necessary to fulfill event or promotion registration, purchases, charitable contributions, or volunteer opportunities, and any other information you choose to provide us

Information Collected Voluntarily: If you choose to communicate with us through an online form, by sending us an email, by requesting additional information, by registering for one of our events, by purchasing goods or services from us, by making a contribution, or by otherwise contacting us, we will collect whatever information, including personal information, that you choose to provide us with. This may include information such as the dates and time you visit the Services, the page you view, referring / exit URLS, your browser type, and the domain name of your internet service provider. Information Collected From Other Sources

CYC may obtain additional information, including personal information, from other CYC affiliates, business partners and service providers. For example, this includes information provided to us through surveys hosted on our service providers’ websites. We also may combine information we receive from third parties with other information we collect from you as described in this Privacy Statement. In addition, we may review, collect, and use information that you provide to us or post publicly about us or our activities on third-party websites, social media platforms, or blogs. Finally, to the extent that individuals may provide information about another individual in using our Website, we assume that the individual has permission and/or authority to do so, but we will delete such information if appropriate when contacted by the affected individual. The CYC collects, uses, shares, or discloses personal information for reasons that include, but are not limited to:

    •  To comply with other applicable criminal and civil law and regulatory requirements under applicable federal, state, and international law

    • Provide donor and volunteer service and support 

    • Accepting and processing donations

    • Operating and providing the Website

    • Improving our Services, user experience, and our business/nonprofit mission;

    • Security purposes, including monitoring, risk assessment, addressing integrity and security issues related to the Services, and fraud and crime prevention/detention;

    • Communication: Including responding to comments, questions or requests,  sending promotional or marketing materials, including event registrations, donation acknowledgements, receipts, etc.;

    • Business Purposes: Including, without limitation, verifying your identity, age, completing transactions, evaluating qualifications for positions with us, investigating complaints about the Services, research and analysis, dispute resolution, and enabling you to access and use our Websites and related services;

    • Compliance: With law enforcement, government agencies, or a governmental mandate, as well as complying with or as permitted by any CYC policies and any applicable legal requirements;

    • Activities: Engaging in any other activities discussed under this Privacy Policy or by CYC in its discretion.

In addition to the uses mentioned or described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy, we may add personal information to our database.

We may share personal information with third parties, such as local member organizations, trusted business partners and service providers, to help provide the Services, deliver our products and services, process payments, perform statistical analysis, protect against potential fraud, or perform any other functions consistent with the operation of the Services. We may also share personal information with professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers, in the course of the professional services they render to us.

  • CYC Affiliates: We will share information with our CYC affiliates as needed, to support our mission, including for fundraising activities, and provide our services, as described in this Privacy Statement.

  • Express Consent: We will share your personal information with companies, organizations, or individuals other than CYC and its affiliates when we have your prior express consent to do so or you ask us in writing to do so.

  • Voluntary Sharing: When you use our Website, certain features allow you to make some of your usage and content accessible to the public, directly or through social media platforms. We urge you to consider the sensitivity of any information prior to sharing it publicly or with other users.

  • Service Providers, Business Partners, and Others: We may share your information with our service providers, agents, business partners, and other third parties who perform services on our behalf, such as infrastructure, analytics, fundraising, marketing, public awareness, content delivery, and advertising services.

  • Additional Sharing: We may share personal information that has been aggregated, de-identified, or otherwise anonymized, and thus does not directly or indirectly identify you and cannot, with reasonable efforts, resources, and technologies, be used to reidentify you. Such aggregated, anonymized, de-identified, or otherwise not re-identifiable information is not personal information within the scope of this Privacy Statement or applicable privacy laws.

We take commercially reasonable measures to secure and protect personal information on the Services. We appreciate your questions and comments about the Services and welcome your messages through our “Contact Us” page. We may share your messages with those within our organization or with local member organizations to address the issues contained in your message.

Security

CYC strives to protect personal information under our control against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of or access to, personal data that is transmitted, stored, or otherwise processed. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet and no data storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

Children’s Personal Data

Our Website, and the services we provide to our clients, are not directed to or intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we do not knowingly collect any personal information about children or sell products to children, if we become aware that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. California Privacy Rights

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits Website users who are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. If you are visiting the Services, or any part thereof, from outside of the United States, your personal information may be transferred to, stored and processed in the United States.
